"Death is not waiting for us at the end of a long road. Death is always with us, in the marrow of every passing moment. She is the secret teacher hiding in plain sight" - Frank Ostaseski, author of "The Five Invitations"
After hosting "Meditations on Death" at the Sydney Festival of Death and Dying, among many other venues, Asher continues to present this intimate workshop at The Fifth Direction.
Asher understands that a full life involves a much closer relationship with death than many of us currently have. Drawing on his own experience, as well as lessons from historical and mythological influences, he will guide workshop participants through a powerful death-bed meditation as well as discuss the benefits and underlying philosophy of such a practice.
Asher will be joined by musician Stephan Skipper for this special event. With a Masters in Music Therapy, Stephan is currently the senior music therapist at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, where he uses music to help patients cope with the existential challenges that follow diagnosis and treatments; as well as supporting palliative patients and their families though the end stages of life. Stephan will provide live music and discussion of his work.
